The San Antonio Tennis Association is a 501(c)3 community tennis association of the USTA, United States Tennis Association-Texas Section, founded in the summer of 1946, and is a non-profit organization made up of more than 10,000 men, women and junior tennis players that help us promote and develop the growth of tennis. SATA’s mission statement is: “To promote and develop the lifetime sport of tennis as means of healthful recreation and physical fitness, social skill development, self-esteem and character building, and to provide programs to players of all ages and abilities, to the physically and/or mentally challenged, regardless of race, creed, color, or national origin.” Based at the City of San Antonio’s newly renovated McFarlin Tennis Center on San Pedro, SATA’s tennis community has grown to exceed 13,000 players. Along with its own events and programs, SATA supports all of the programs of the USTA that benefit the San Antonio community. These include the USTA Adult Tennis Leagues, USTA Junior Team Tennis, the USTA After School Programs, National Junior Tennis & Learning Programs (NJTL), USTA Adaptive/Wheelchair Tennis, the mayor’s Fitness in the Park initiative and more. SATA works in close cooperation with the City of San Antonio Parks and Recreation Department as well as various schools, clubs, and other tennis organizations in the surrounding area. SATA also welcomes thousands of tennis players through more than 15 local, sectional and national USTA sanctioned tournaments each year, including the USTA National Selection Tournament, USTA Boys 14s National Championship and the National Women’s Intersectional Team Event. In addition to USTA Programs, SATA is committed to share the game of tennis with those with disabilities.  SATA offers additional programming for Wounded Warriors, active servicemen and servicewomen as well as Special Olympics/Adaptive Tennis players. These clinics are conducted at McFarlin Tennis Center, area military bases and additional sites throughout San Antonio.
